About the Writer

Originally from California, Zakiya uses her writing as a way to connect with others from all over the world. She incorporates her love of learning languages, travel experiences, and spiritual wisdom to cultivate warm, authentic landscapes.

She attended Howard University, where she earned her Bachelor of Arts in Film Production.

Her writing has been recognized by Anaphora Arts, who awarded her a fellowship based on the merit of a first chapter of her previous work.
